The name of the blog page is "IVC Technology Support Internship" or IVC TSI for short. I am sure many of you are asking who are these people and what do they do. Well this post is to the answer the, "who we are" question. My name is Dustin Birkel and I am one of the Assistant Principals at IVC High School. I have been charged with the responsibility of taking IVC Schools into a 1:1 environment with the help of numerous others. Two of the primary leaders in this charge are Jason Talley and Dawn Cohenour. Jason and Dawn are the leaders of the IVC Technology Department. In addition to Jason and Dawn, I have the privilege to work with and learn from three incredible young men, Jack Weber, Abe Ramseyer and Brennan Towery. Together these three boys have a number of unique talents. Jack has an abundance of knowledge of all things tech... anything from coding to hardware and software seem to be in his wheelhouse. Abe, on the other hand, is very good with many of the Microsoft Office style of products. I can give Abe a detailed task list to complete in Google Sheets, Google Docs or Google Slides and before the hour is over, he continues to impress me with his knowledge and productivity. I assume Mrs. Miller should get some thanks here!! Brennan Towery is the youngest of the three boys as a junior, while Jack and Abe are seniors. Although Brennan does not have the software specific knowledge, he is very strong at "snooping". I do not mean this in a bad way, but when Mr. Hatfield, assistant superintendent, told Brennan to "find the weaknesses in the network", he took it to heart. Brennan is one of the most honest young men I know and has made us aware of a few areas we needed to tighten security. Thank you Brennan!
Jack, Abe and Brennan all started working for the district over the summer as employees of IVC District 321. Please read the next post to see what we have been working on with the help of our IVC Technology Department.
